Audiobook review ‘Social Engineering’

Rating: ★★★★★ (5 of 5 stars)

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook! The content of the book was presented in an entertaining and compelling way. All the experiences of the author with the different the Social Engineering techniques made the content enjoyable.

As a cybersecurity professional the content was specifically interesting. The human component of cybersecurity is getting too little attention in my opinion. I am stunned by how successful Social Engineers are by exploiting human emotions and behaviours according to the examples in the book - to be fair: they are professional Social Engineers and rookie Social Engineering attempts would probably result in less impressive numbers.

Another point I have great respect for is the ability of professional Social Engineers to improvise according to the chosen role. They are staying within their role, adapt to the situation and react accordingly to achieve their goal(s) and they are doing it in such a short time span, that it is not suspicious! No wonder why the book was previously named “[…]the art of human hacking”.

From my point of view a super interesting topic with a lot of potential at least for german companies where Social Engineering isn´t a bigger topic mostly related to legal reasons/works councils etc..
